Why Do You Need A Bathroom Remodel?
Ask yourself this question: When is it necessary to remodel your bathroom? Does it look really odd? Is it old? Or is it having technical issues? If the answers are ‘YES,’ then you must remodel it.
Your bathroom needs to be updated to look fresh and neat. But you can’t change everything every year to keep it up-to-date. You need to care about certain things to make your bathroom aesthetically pleasing.
A bathroom is a mirror of an individual’s aesthetic sense and visual taste. In a bathroom makeover, bathroom arrangement, plumbing fixture locations, tiling pattern, and light placement must be considered.
How Can a Bathroom Remodel Be Implemented?
Design and Planning
First, you need to think about a convenient remodelling layout for your bathroom. Take a piece of paper and draw a rough layout as you like. If your bathroom space is rectangular, it is very convenient to remodel. Place the shower tray/shower room aside. This is called the wet-zone.
Secondly, place the WC in the middle for convenient use, and then the washbasin beside it. This is a convenient sequence for a bathroom layout.
Thirdly, think about the color scheme of your bathroom remodel. Light and mild color schemes have a peaceful and relaxing vibe. Choose a color palette that you think is best for you.
Fourthly, finalize the color scheme and select the tile layout and design that will fit this color scheme. Determine whether you need square-shaped tiles or rectangular ones. Then prepare a tile layout.
Fifth, you need to choose the fittings like the shower-head, shower tray, shower tap, WC design and color, basin design, and color. Remember to match them with the color scheme, or if you want, make them contrast.
Now, make decisions about the lights. Do they need to be hidden or visible? Hidden or reflected lights are more attractive than visible bulbs.
You have made all the decisions regarding design and layout. Now it’s time to execute the design. As the very first step, you need to estimate a budget and get prices from the relevant material suppliers.
Now that you know about the budget and the prices of suppliers, it’s time to work!
The Construction Work Phase
Remove the old fittings
Disassemble the old plumbing fixtures and fittings in a manner that does not compromise the area. Use rust remover chemicals where rust is present.
Remove tiles
Knock down the old tiles from the walls and floors. See the blog – How to Change Bathroom Wall Tiles – for a clear idea. After clearing the tiles, check the concealed water supply pipes to see if they are fine or have issues. Replace them if there is any leakage issue.
Concealed Equipment
Place the concealed water supply equipment before tile installation. Be sure that the fittings and positioning are fine and no screws or threads are left loose.
Installing The Tiles
Now install the floor tiles according to the prepared layout. Then proceed to the wall tiles according to the prepared layout. Be careful about the water tap points that need to be exposed nicely. After completion, wait at least 24 hours. Then apply the grout around the tile joints.
Fitting and Fixtures
Now it’s time to install the plumbing fixtures and fittings. Install them neatly. While installing the WC, check that the outline pipe is connected correctly with the gutter line. For the basin, check that the wastewater line is connected to the floor waste pipe correctly.Wait 3-5 days before starting to use the bathroom. You are all set now!
