In the dense crevices of this mountain city, there exists a natural oasis that holds the city’s peace and stillness. This time, continuing the Natural Tectonic approach, we shaped a breathing teahouse among the wooded slopes—embedding a Scandinavian rationality and warmth into the urban fabric, and through it, attempting to reweave the relationship between humans, nature, and the modern metropolis.
In 2025, the architectural field has been marked by a dense calendar of exhibitions, a measured slowdown in construction across multiple regions, and a period of reflection that scrutinizes the impact of intelligence (artificial and natural)—both on professional practice and workplace culture, as well as its use as a pedagogical tool. Over this calendar year, ArchDaily has published more than 30 interviews in a range of formats—Q&As, in-person conversations, video features, and more. These exchanges have engaged themes of sustainability and nature, housing and urban development, AI and intelligence, adaptive reuse and public life, and have closely followed major exhibition platforms including the Venice Biennale, Expo 2025 Osaka, Milan Design Week, Concéntrico, and others.
Perched atop a wooded slope, The Roost residence overlooks one of Maine’s lakes with filtered views of nearby mountains. The 2,520-square-foot house was designed as a year-round retreat for a large extended family. To maximize the use of available footprint—the home sits within a conservation easement and the buildable footprint was severely limited—a two-story porch was designed on one end of the building volume to provide several overlapping features including a sheltered entry, a screen porch that expands interior living spaces, and an upstairs sleeping porch all within one simple architectural move.

The project is structured through three blocks with differentiated functions: social, private, and services. To establish the separation between these volumes, two intermediate courtyards are configured, generating spatial fluidity and favoring natural ventilation and lighting.
HB comes from the need to create a spacious, comfortable, and pleasant space when working. That’s why an old warehouse space without natural lighting is converted into an open-plan, bright, and welcoming workspace. The main challenge of this project was to rehabilitate the premises while maintaining the essence of the place also adapting it to HB Estudi’s style and the current architectural trends.
Liberation Museum of Manisa (MKM) was conceived as a memory space to convey the civilian popular movement that developed independently of central authority in the region of Manisa between 1918 and 1923. The design merges the traces of the surviving load-bearing masonry, stone, and brick structures post-fire with Manisa’s local brick tradition, which stretches back to archaic periods. The 14 independent brick chambers, constructed entirely using the load-bearing technique, present different historical moments as a sequential experience.
